現・石川県小松市大文字町に生まれる 日本画家を志し荒木探令に絵画を学んだほか、九谷「松雲堂」で松本佐平に陶画を学び輸出物の絵付を手伝うが、しだいに古九谷、吉田屋の青手に惹かれ、独立して九谷五彩の研究に没頭、多くの釉薬の開発をする Born in 1873 (Meiji 6) in what is now known as Daimonji-cho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Aspiring to become a Japanese painter, he studied painting with Tanrei Araki, and also learned ceramic painting with Sahei Matsumoto at Kutani ``Shoundo'' and helped with the painting of artifacts. However, he gradually became attracted to old Kutani and became Yoshidaya's blue hands, and became independent and immersed himself in the study of *Kutani Gosai, developing many glazes. |
